2015 prom season begins

Here is a list of upcoming prom dates for high schools in the South Hills. Note that some schools stage a “promenade” before the prom in which the couples parade across the high school stage or on a red carpet at the high school to show off their finery to friends and family.

Seton-LaSalle was to kick off the season Thursday with its prom in the Grand Hall at the Priory on the North Shore. Most others are held in May.

• Baldwin High School: Junior prom: 6 to 10:30 p.m. May 15 at Valley Brook Country Club, Peters. Senior prom: 6 to 11 p.m. May 29 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Green Tree.

• Bethel Park High School: 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. May 15 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Downtown.

• Brentwood High School: 7 to 11 p.m. May 15 at the South Hills Country Club, Whitehall. A promenade will begin at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

• Carlynton Junior-Senior High School: 7 to 11 p.m. May 22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Green Tree. The promenade steps off at 5:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

• Clairton Middle/High School: 7 to 11 p.m. next Friday at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square. A promenade starts at 5 p.m. at the high school.

• Elizabeth Forward High School: 5 to 10 p.m. May 16 at the Omni William Penn Hotel, Downtown. Promenade is at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

• Keystone Oaks High School: 7 p.m. to midnight May 22 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, Downtown.

• McKeesport Area High School: 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. May 21 at the Omni William Penn Hotel, Downtown. A promenade precedes, starting at 5:30 p.m. in front of the high school.

• Mt. Lebanon High School: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 3-4 at the Omni William Penn Hotel, Downtown.

• Peters Township High School: 7 to 11 p.m. May 29 at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square, Pittsburgh.

• South Allegheny High School: 6 to 10 p.m. next Friday at the Lakeview Banquet Hall, Greensburg. Promenade is 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

• South Fayette High School: 6 to 11 p.m. May 22 at the Omni William Penn Hotel, Downtown. Promenade: 4 to 5 p.m. in the high school theater.

• Steel Valley Senior High School: 7 to 11 p.m. May 15 at the Circuit Center & Ballroom, South Side. Promenade: 5 p.m. at the high school.

• Thomas Jefferson High School: 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. May 14-15 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh, Downtown. Promenade precedes, at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

• Upper St. Clair High School: 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. June 9-10 at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe Hotel, Canonsburg. While there is no official promenade, parents generally gather outside the hotel to watch students walk the red carpet entering the ballroom.

• West Mifflin Area High School: 6:30 to 11 p.m. May 15 at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square. The promenade steps off at 4:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
