The streaking Mets, with the top record in the majors, finished 10-0 on their first homestand of the season after sweeping a trio of NL East rivals. This is the first time the Mets have won 11 in a row since 1990, and they tied the 1986 World Series champs for the best start in team history.
Cardinals 4, Nationals 1: Michael Wacha (3-0) got the best of Max Scherzer (1-2) in a pitcher’s duel, Matt Adams singled in the tiebreaking run in the sixth and visiting St. Louis beat Washington for its fourth consecutive series win.
Yankees 2, Tigers 1: Brian McCann drove in Jacoby Ellsbury with the tiebreaking run in the eighth and visiting New York held on to beat Detroit.
Brewers 4, Reds 2: Kyle Lohse (1-3) bounced back from a poor start this season and host Milwaukee snapped an eight-game losing streak by beating Cincinnati.
Marlins 9, Phillies 1: David Phelps (1-0) tossed three-hit ball in seven innings, Martin Prado drove in four runs and Adeiny Hechavarria had four hits to help visiting Miami beat Philadelphia.
Rockies 2, Padres 1: Corey Dickerson hit a go-ahead home run leading off the fifth and Jordan Lyles (2-1) pitched effectively into the seventh, helping host Colorado to a win against San Diego.
Giants 3, Dodgers 2: Justin Maxwell singled home the winning run with one out in the 10th and San Francisco beat visiting Los Angeles for a three-game sweep.
Angels 2, Athletics 0: Nick Tropeano (1-0) pitched five-hit ball into the seventh in his Angels debut, and Kole Calhoun’s two-run homer was the only Los Angeles hit in a narrow victory against visiting Oakland.
Blue Jays 7, Orioles 6: Josh Donaldson hit a two-run homer, Drew Hutchison (2-0) pitched eight strong innings and host Toronto completed a three-game sweep of Baltimore.
Rays 2, Red Sox 1: Rene Rivera had a run-scoring single in the ninth and host Tampa Bay beat Boston. Brad Boxberger (2-1) got the win.
