Cardinals 3, Brewers 0: Carlos Martinez (2-0) struck out eight in seven innings, Jason Heyward and Jhonny Peralta homered, and St. Louis won in Milwaukee. Martinez gave up four hits and walked two in seven innings.

Cubs 7, Reds 3: Jonathan Herrera singled home the tiebreakin­g run in the 11th, and David Ross hit a bases-loaded double that sent Chicago to a win in Cincinnati. Anthony Rizzo homered, doubled and singled as the Reds bullpen failed to hold a lead once again.

Marlins 3, Nationals 2: Martin Prado broke a tie with an eighthinni­ng single, and four pitchers combined on a six-hitter to help Miami beat visiting Washington. The Marlins, starting a nine-game homestand, won their third in a row after a 3-11 start.

Phillies 1, Braves 0: Freddie Freeman mishandled Ben Revere’s ground ball to first, allowing Freddy Galvis to score in the ninth to give host Philadelph­ia a win against Atlanta.

Rockies 6, Giants 4: Pinch-hitter Rafael Ynoa snapped a sixth-inning tie with an RBI double and Eddie Butler (2-1) was backed by stellar defense over six innings as Colorado beat visiting San Francisco. Charlie Blackmon added a solo homer.

Yankees 6, Mets 1: Mark Teixeira hit two, two-run homers and Michael Pineda pitched impressive­ly into the eighth to help the host Yankees end the crosstown rival Mets’ 11-game winning streak with a victory in the Subway Series opener.

Rays 12, Blue Jays 3: James Loney, Rene Rivera and Tim Beckham each hit a two-run homer, and Tampa Bay beat visiting Toronto. Kevin Kiermaier also circled the bases on a four-base error as Tampa Bay earned its third consecutiv­e victory.

Indians 13, Tigers 1: Brandon Moss homered twice and drove in seven runs and Danny Salazar (2-0) struck out a career-high 11 as visiting Cleveland routed Detroit. Detroit has lost four in a row.

Red Sox 7, Orioles 5: Brock Holt hit a tiebreakin­g, three-run homer off Darren O’Day in the eighth as visiting Boston beat Baltimore. David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez also connected for the Red Sox.
