The college commencement season in Allegheny County starts today. Here’s a list of undergraduate ceremonies:
Sunday, April 26: University of Pittsburgh, 1 p.m., Petersen Events Center. Speaker and honorary degree recipient: Charles F. Bolden Jr., NASA administrator and retired major general of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Saturday, May 2: Point Park University, 10 a.m., Consol Energy Center. Speaker: former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch.
Friday, May 8: Duquesne University, 5 p.m., A.J. Palumbo Center. Speaker: Michael Collins, Ireland’s ambassador to Germany and former ambassador to the United States.
Saturday, May 9: Carlow University, 12:45 p.m., Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum. Speaker: Sharon Epperson, CNBC’s personal finance correspondent and senior commodities correspondent.
Saturday, May 9: La Roche College, 10 a.m., Kerr Fitness Center. Speaker and honorary doctorate recipient: Christine Spadafor, president of SpadforClay Group, a strategic management consulting firm.
Saturday, May 9: Robert Morris University, 9:30 a.m., Sewall Center Arena. Speaker: departing president Gregory Dell’Omo, RMU president since 2005.
Saturday, May 9: Penn State University, Greater Allegheny campus, 11 a.m., Wunderley Gymnasium. Speaker: Andrew Butcher, CEO/cofounder, GTECH Strategies (Growth Through Energy and Community Health).
Thursday, May 14: Community College of Allegheny County, 7 p.m., Petersen Events Center. Speaker: University of Pittsburgh Chancellor Patrick Gallagher.
Sunday, May 17: Carnegie Mellon University, 11 a.m., Gesling Stadium. Speaker and honorary degree recipient: Alan Alda, actor, writer, director and founder of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University.
Monday, May 18: Chatham University, 10 a.m., Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum. Speaker and honorary degree recipient: U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell.
