8 vying for seats on county court

Eight candidates are competing for three open seats on the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court in this year’s primary election.

Judges who sit on this triallevel court can be assigned to four different divisions, including criminal, civil, family and orphan’s. They earn $179,532 and serve 10-year terms before going up for retention. The candidates are: Pauline N. Calabrese, 52, Crescent Hills

Undergradu­ate education: Penn State University, 1985

Law School: Duquesne University, 1988

Allegheny County Bar Associatio­n ranking: not recommende­d at this time

Ms. Calabrese has been an attorney for 27 years and said she has practiced in every court division. Her primary focus area is the adult section of the family division.

Ms. Calabrese also serves as a member of the Penn Hills School Board and teaches at Community College of Allegheny County and Carlow University. She also is on the board of Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center.

William F. Caye II, 47, South Fayette

Undergradu­ate education: Duquesne University, 1990

Law School: Duquesne University, 1993

Allegheny County Bar Associatio­n ranking: recommende­d

Mr. Caye retired from the state attorney general’s office in January, nine years into his tenure. During that time, he worked in the criminal division, prosecutin­g child sex crimes, elder abuse and cybercrime.
