State police are searching for three men who they said forced their way into a Westmoreland County residence early Thursday morning, assaulting the residents — including a 10-year-old girl whom they forced to strip.

According to a police release, the men — at least one of whom had a handgun — entered the home on Lowber Road in Sewickley Township at 2:30 a.m. and demanded money and drugs from the woman who lived there.

Also in the home were the woman’s sons — ages 35 and 37 — and two granddaughters — ages 10 and 4.

Police said that when the residents did not comply with the demands, the “ring leader” fired his gun. The men then assaulted the woman’s sons and the leader ordered the older child to remove her clothes and threatened to rape her.

After the residents provided a small amount of cash, the 10-year-old girl told the men there was more money in the car outside.

The leader took the child out to the car, where all he found was change in the console. The man then “inappropriately touched” the girl, police said, assaulted her and forced her back into the home.

The trio fled in a dark pickup truck with the small amount of money and firearms.

The 37-year-old victim was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he is being treated for Level 2 trauma injuries.

Police described the leader, who wore a black bandanna over his face, as a black male in his mid-30s, just over 6 feet tall with a medium to stocky build.

The second suspect is a black male in his mid-20s, around 5 feet 10, weighing 160 to 170 pounds, with shoulderlength dreadlocks.

The third suspect is a black male who is believed to be a teenager, around 5 feet 10, weighing about 165 pounds with a close-cut hairstyle.
