- Auto racing notebook

Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Xfinity race Saturday night at Iowa Speedway for his first victory of the season.

Blaney erased the sting of a disappointing runner-up finish last week in Indianapolis by maintaining his lead through a second green-white-checkered finish on the 0.894-mile oval.

Blaney won after finishing second three times in his other six Xfinity starts this season.

Regan Smith was second, followed by Brian Scott, Ty Dillon and Brendan Gaughan.

Fifty- one- year- old Kenny Wallace, the career Xfinity starts leader with 547, finished 15th in the last race of his NASCAR career.

Truck Series

Kyle Busch pulled away on the final laps to win at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa. Busch, the second-winningest driver in series history, earned career victory No. 43. Busch had just enough fuel in an overtime finish to hold off fellow Cup driver Kevin Harvick. Tyler Reddick was third, followed by Cameron Hayley and Austin Dillon. Reddick took the series points lead from Matt Crafton.

IndyCar

Scott Dixon the won pole for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio in Lexington, Ohio, setting a track record in the process. Dixon’s winning lap was 1 minute, 4.5814 seconds. Several drivers bested the previous qualifying record of 1:05.347 seconds set by Dario Franchitti in 1999. Will Power qualified second and Sebastien Bourdais was third.

NHRA

Eddie Krawiec won the Pro Bike Battle in the Sonoma Nationals and also topped qualifying for the main event. Antron Brown qualified No. 1 in Top Fuel, Jack Beckman topped the Funny Car field, and Chris McGaha was the fastest in Pro Stock.
