RICHMOND, Virginia — A grand jury indicted two former Virginia Tech students on first-degree murder and other charges Tuesday for the high-profile killing of 13-year-old Nicole Lovell.

The Montgomery County, Va., grand jury returned the indictments against David Eisenhauer, 18, of Columbia, Md., and Natalie Keepers, 19, of Laurel, Md., after hearing a little over an hour of testimony about the January slaying.

Authorities allege that Mr. Eisenhauer and Ms. Keepers hatched a plan to kill Nicole and that Mr. Eisenhauer lured her from her Blacksburg home on a cold January night and stabbed her in a wooded area. Prosecutors allege that Mr. Eisenhauer and Ms. Keepers then dumped Nicole’s body.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive in the case, but two law enforcement officials previously told The Washington Post that Mr. Eisenhauer had an inappropriate relationship with Nicole. A friend said Nicole had hoped to run away with Mr. Eisenhauer and start a family.
