Jets finally seal a deal with Fitzpatrick
Almost seven months after veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick ended his breakout 2015 season, he and the New York Jets agreed to a one-year deal worth $12 million.
Fitzpatrick’s return is a relief for a team that made it clear that it wanted to reunite with the 12-year pro. But the two sides have been at odds over money.
The Jets’ initial offer in January was about $8 million a year — well below the going rate for starters ($18 million) and what Fitzpatrick had expected.
After his trade from Houston in March 2015, Fitzpatrick led a revamped offense that finished 10-6, one win shy of a wild-card spot.
Ravens
Coach John Harbaugh acknowledged that Mike Wallace did not pass the team’s conditioning test, which he will need to do before he’s permitted to practice. The Ravens signed Wallace to a two-year, $11.5 million contract in March.
Bears
Chicago signed former Eagles and Steelers cornerback Brandon Boykin. Boykin has 131 tackles and eight interceptions over four seasons with the Eagles (2012-14) and Steelers (2015).
Rams
Los Angeles released quarterback Nick Foles after failing to find a trade destination for the veteran. The Rams choose California quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 pick.
