How will KDKA fill empty anchor chair?

-

general manager Chris Pike says, “While schedules are fluid, it’s a safe assumption that both Sarah and Heather will be filling in.”

The bigger question may be, what will Jennifer Antkowiak do next? As others have wondered, could she sit out her noncompete period and take over the anchor chair vacated by Wendy Bell at WTAE?

Q: Just wondering why Greta Van Susteren left Fox News Channel without saying goodbye. Do you have any insight? — BARBARA, ROSCOE Rob: Ms. Van Susteren posted to Facebook earlier this month that she decided to leave FNC on Sept. 1 and that “Fox has not felt like home to me for a few years.”

Ultimately, whether this was her decision or the network’s, it has left observers wondering if the move portends more changes to come at FNC in the post-Roger Ailes era.

Q: I just finished the eighth episode of HBO’s “The Night Of” and wondered if HBO’s production company shot the series “episode by episode” or more like a motion picture, which shoots scenes out of order to better correspond with actor and set availability. — BILL, PITTSBURGH Rob: The series was filmed episode by episode like most TV series, but scenes within each episode are shot out of order generally. And it’s possible some of the flashback stuff from the night of the murder was all shot at once and inserted into later episodes.

Q: Are you able to get any information on why the beautiful young actress who played Abbey was written out of the “Days of Our Lives” storyline? Apparently she died in an airplane crash. (Just when the storyline was coming together so nicely for “Chad” and “Abbey,” it was very disappointing to see this happen.)

— FLO VIA EMAIL Rob: It appears actress Kate Mansi left the show late last year. Whether it was her choice to go or producers’ is unclear.

Q: Would you know why magician Penn Jillette has one fingernail painted red? I have noticed it several times watching “Penn & Teller: Fool Us.”

— JOHN, AVALON Rob: Mr. Jillette explained the red fingernail in a 2012 tweet, writing, “It’s for my mom. I wear my dad’s ring and my mom’s nail polish. It reminds me of them. Momma’s boy.”
