An Evening with Goldie Hawn

-

When and where: Tuesday night at the Fairmont Pittsburgh hotel, Downtown.

#AllEyesonGoldie: The air was thick was anticipation as guests poured into Habitat restaurant inside the Fairmont for a chance to meet actress Goldie Hawn and hear her speak at Bethlehem Haven’s Be Inspired fundraising event. “I may pounce on her,” laughed Annie Engel. Ms. Hawn’s own foundation, MindUP, focuses on using meditative practices to reduce stress in children and adults. “She’s a strong woman who started her own foundation, and we believe that what she is promoting is right in line with what we want to do here at Bethlehem Haven. We learned long ago that it isn’t enough to shelter homeless women, but that if we can get them housed and in a better state of physical, emotional and mental health, then we can put them on the path to self-empowerment,” said Debbi Linhart, CEO of Bethlehem Haven. After the meet and greet with Ms. Hawn, guests settled into watch her speak before the organization honored Dr. Edward J. Donnelly III and former CEO of Bethlehem Haven, Marilyn Sullivan. “I think we all get involved with this organization because we realize that we are one another. Nothing except housing separates me from these other women that we want to support and uplift. How we treat the most vulnerable among us says a lot about who we are as a society,” said event co-chair Debbie Demchak. Learn more at: www.bethlehemhaven.org

And now a moment with...Goldie Hawn: Why did you want to be here tonight at this event? Well, they asked me to speak, and I really believe in their mission, what they are doing for women and children. I’m very interested in mindfulness and how it can help reduce stress in people. What have you learned from the children you work with in your foundation? Children are very resilient and if we give them the tools they need to control their behaviors and emotions in a healthy way, they can navigate their own course more successfully.
