Alaska still reigns on ‘Drag Race’

-

With two episodes left after this week’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2,” it’s pretty clear Alaska is going the distance, in stiletto heels no less.

The University of Pittsburgh grad sometimes known as Justin Honard won yet another spotlight challenge on Logo’s Thursday night drag fantasy, then nailed the lip-sync. For the second time this season, it was her choice to send a competitor home.

But which of the bottom two?

“One of these queens, week after week, has brought a level of prestige and beauty and excellence to this runway and to the art form of drag,” Alaska said. “And one of these queens is the person who lent me this very shirt that I’m wearing tonight.”

And so it was that Alaska chose Tatianna (Joey Santolini) to get the chop. She saved Roxxxy Andrews (Michael Feliciano), who was part of the old “RuLaskaTox” clique when they appeared on “Drag Race’s” fifth season.

A preview for next week’s show features another queen complaining that this is not supposed to be “RuPaul’s Best Friends Race.”

For Alaska, it was a wellearned reward. She nailed a fake commercial — comedic acting is a forte — and her runway looks combined ’80s star-spangled chic with bad hair.

“From the neck down, you’re going to some fabulous Studio 54 disco, but your hair is going bowling,” quipped guest judge Graham Norton.

Indeed, that tight-curled, close-cropped blond wig was a bit off-putting, but when Alaska came out for the lipsync, she’d replaced it with a larger version. There was good reason for that: Halfway through “Cherry Bomb,” she pulled an American flag from the back of it like a magician doing a scarf trick.

It could be argued that friendship shouldn’t count
