Rockies 4, Brewers 1: Nolan Arenado hit his NL-leading 41st homer, and Chad Bettis (14-8) pitched effectivel­y into the seventh as Colorado beat visiting Milwaukee.

Tigers 6, Braves 2: Miguel Cabrera hit two home runs and Ian Kinsler and Justin Upton also connected as Detroit moved up in the playoff race by winning in Atlanta. The Tigers won their third in a row.

Indians 7, Royals 2: Ryan Merritt (1-0) retired the final 13 batters he faced in five strong innings in his first big-league start and Francisco Lindor hit a three-run homer as the Cleveland won in Kansas City.

Rangers 3, Rays 1: Yu Darvish looked playoff-ready with a seasonhigh 12 strikeouts in six innings as Texas beat visiting Tampa Bay and clinched home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

Orioles 8, Yankees 1: Mark Trumbo hit his major league-leading 47th home run and Jonathan Schoop and Adam Jones also went deep in a sixrun fifth as visiting Baltimore beat New York.

White Sox 7, Twins 3: Carlos Rodon tied an AL record by striking out the first seven batters and Tim Anderson finished a double shy of the cycle to lead host Chicago past Minnesota.
