NA comeback fuels win vs. Mt. Lebanon

-

North Allegheny had won its previous two games by a combined scored of 98-7. Friday night, the third-ranked Tigers (4-2) proved they can roar back from adversity, too, by rallying for 15 fourthquarter points to get by Mt. Lebanon (3-3), 22-15, in a non-conference clash.

Quarterback Ethan Maenza rushed for three touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter, to put the Tigers ahead for good. He finished with 219 yards on 23 carries.

North Allegheny has won three games in a row.

Jack Young hauled in a 10-yard pass from James Stocker for the No. 4 Blue Devils’ only touchdown. They got a pair of field goals from Garrett Montilla as well as a safety.

Jack Cook ran for two touchdowns and also threw for 116 yards to lead Seneca Valley (3-2, 2-2). Hank Royal carried 22 times for 125 yards. He scored on a 5-yard run and a 22-yard run.

The Indians (3-3, 2-2) never could get going, especially Tarrant. He entered the game with 1,590 passing yards, the most in the WPIAL. The Raiders defense, however, limited him to just 46 yards, easily his lowest output of the season.

Tarrant did throw a touchdown pass, a 10-yarder that was hauled in by Rick Squires.

Butler 34, Shaler 16: The Golden Tornado (2-3, 1-3) pounded out the win behind four rushing touchdowns.

Antonio DeVaugh ran it in from 24 yards out before Dallas Hayes found the end zone on runs of 11 and 3 yards. Luke Michalek added a 31 -yard surge in the fourth quarter and also ran a kickoff back 85 yards for another score.

Jake Pollack scored on runs of 65 and 12 yards for Shaler, which played on its homefield for the first time this season.

The Titans played their previous home games at the high school because a turf field was being installed at the football stadium, which sits behind the intermediate school.

Shaler (0-6, 0-4) had been shutout in its previous three games.

Canon-McMillan 21, 14: Altoona Central Valley quarterback Nico Battisti rushes for a touchdown Friday against Beaver Area.
