South Fayette storms to win vs. Blackhawk

Drew Saxton threw four touchdown passes in the second half, as visiting South Fayette rallied from a 210 halftime deficit to defeat Blackhawk, 28-21, in the Northwest Nine Conference.

Saxton completed 21 of 41 passes for 316 yards and connected with Dan Trimbur on scoring passes of 7, 10, and 3 yards. He also connected with Noah Plack on an 11-yard scoring strike.

Trimbur caught eight passes for 92 yards for the Lions (6-0, 4-0), ranked No. 2 in WPIAL Class 4A. Plack had four catches for 104 yards.

Blackhawk (3-2, 2-2) scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 10 yards by Mike Savilisky and a 5-yard pass from Savilisky to Tyler Hill. broke a 7-7 halftime tie with 27 unanswered points in the second half. Hunter Cooper began the second half rally with a 15-yard intercepti­on return for a score.

Montour 34, Knoch 21: The Spartans (3-2, 3-2) rallied from a 14-0 deficit to defeat the Knights (1-4, 1-3) a Northwest Nine Conference road game. Mac Christy scored two touchdowns for Knoch.

Trinity 41, Uniontown 14: Joey Koroly scored three touchdowns as the visiting Hillers (2-3, 2-2) dominated the winless Red Raiders (06, 0-4) in the Big Nine Conference. Koroly rushed for 254 yards on 25 carries and scored on runs of 14 and 36 yards. He also caught a 25-yard scoring strike from Dylan Kern. Kern also connected with Dawson Mary and Adam Raggi for scores.

Mount Pleasant 49, Elizabeth Forward 13: Cody Reese and Keith Kalp each scored two touchdowns, as the Vikings (5-1, 3-1) dominated the visiting Warriors (2-3, 2-2) in the Interstate Conference. Reese scored on runs of 7 and 15 yards. Kalp caught a 57-yard scoring pass from Johnny Yester and returned an intercepti­on 52 yards for another score. Yester scored on a 2-yard run. Steve Mayernik led the Warriors with a rushing touchdown.

Beaver Falls 66, New Brighton 7: Austin French completed 5 of 7 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Tigers (4-1) to a non-conference road win against the winless Lions (05). French connected with Malik Shepherd and Nate Stratton on his touchdown passes. Doug Beauford led the Tigers with 110 yards on 7 rushing attempts, and scored on a 62-yard touchdown run. yards. Freeport 24, Burrell 20: Evan Schaffhaus­er scored two touchdowns, as the Yellow Jackets (4-1, 3-0) remained unbeaten in the Allegheny Conference with a win against the visiting Buccaneers (2-4, 1-3). Schaffhaus­er caught a 34-yard scoring pass from Austin Romanchak and returned an intercepti­on 26 yards for another score. Burrell’s Max Garda ran for a touchdown and threw for one.

Highlands 42, Albert Gallatin 0: Brayden Thimons completed 7 of 10 passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns, as the Golden Rams (2-3) dominated the Colonials (0-5) in a non-conference road game. Thimons connected with Logan Crise, Lonnie Long, and Dominic Martinka on scoring strikes. Crise also returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown.
