-

Zane Dudek has a chance at the WPIAL regular-season rushing record, but he set a single-game record Friday night.

Dudek, a senior at Armstrong High School, ran for 492 yards on 38 carries to help the Riverhawks (5-1, 3-1) to a 56-28 Big East Conference triumph over Plum (0-5, 0-5).

Dudek broke the record of 460 yards, set last season by Apollo-Ridge’s Duane Brown.

“When you’re going through the game, you’re just trying to call plays and trying to score,” said Armstrong coach Frank Fabian. “You don’t realize how many yards he has. We found he was close [to the record], so we put him back out thee in the fourth quarter.

“Our line did a great job of getting him loose into the secondary tonight and he just goes from there.”
