Thanks to those who listened to a plea for road repair
It’s my pleasure to let you know that things can happen when we speak up on local situations and needs.
In May, I wrote a letter to the Post-Gazette titled “A Bumpy Ride” (May 28), in which I spoke of the horrible road condition of Grant Avenue Extension in Duquesne going up that hill to Holy Trinity Church and the adjacent cemetery.
Not having been there since May, I traveled back over from North Versailles to visit my parents’ grave one recent Saturday, and I was pleasantly surprised as I turned off of HomesteadDuquesne Road to see that the entire road up to the cemetery and beyond was beautifully repaved and resurfaced.
I don’t know if my letter was the catalyst to bring about that change. Or maybe other voices spoke up also. But I would like to send out a thanks to the local political leaders, residents on the hill or anyone else who may have also contributed to getting a much-needed road repaired.
This has proved to me that speaking up and getting involved can bring about changes for the better. It just takes effort. DAVID J. EVANOVICH
