State loans to benefit redevelopment projects
Redevelopment projects at a former Westinghouse site in East Pittsburgh and the former Sony plant in East Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, will benefit from state low-interest loans announced Monday. The Regional Industrial Development Corp. has been awarded a $5 million loan to help with the rehab of the S-Building and the South Shop structure at Keystone Commons, a former Westinghouse facility. The work is part of a plan to convert the complex into an urban center for industrial companies. At the former Sony plant, an $8 million loan will be used to construct loading docks and bays and make other improvements to accommodate the facility's new clients. The loans are part of the state's Business in Our Sites program.
