Antonio Brown needs to learn from Tomlin

-

Antonio Brown’s immature behavior strikes again! Broadcasting the coach’s locker room talk … what was he thinking? Foolish, selfish and inconsiderate are words Steelers coach Mike Tomlin used (“Tomlin: Punishment for Brown Video Will Be Swift,” Jan. 18).

AB has had some opportunities to learn, and it is up to him to learn from Coach Tomlin, his teacher. AB has lost yardage for the Steelers with his end zone antics. By contrast, Steelers fans know how high AB can take them; remember when he lurched forward and got the ball in the end zone against Baltimore?

But even Big Ben told AB he needs to calm down and not get the team penalized.

Mr. Tomlin’s famous philosophy is “the standard is the standard.” Mr. Tomlin and AB will have a private conversation about the

and how his immature behavior is hurting the team. Mr. Tomlin apologized profusely about the language he used in the locker room. He said he knows he’s a role model, acknowledging to his children and the community he didn’t live up to the standard. Mr. Tomlin has backed up his words in the past. His words and actions are aligned and his integrity is unquestionable.

The ball is now in AB’s court. He will redeem himself with his athletic gifts because, at his young age, he still has amazing skills. The question is, will his words of apology and future actions overcome his behavioral antics?

The Steelers will rely on Coach Tomlin’s teaching to rein in AB and somehow make it past the Patriots — and then it’s on to Houston for the Steelers. PAT HAYDEN Youngstown, Pa. Note to AB: Locker rooms are like Las Vegas: What happens there there! NIC NICOLAUS Plum
