Pitt adds Central Florida

Pitt added a two-year series with American Athletic Conference member Central Florida to its nonconfere­nce football schedule for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

On Thursday, Pitt announced the completion of its two-year non-conference slate, which include a visit to UCF Sept. 29, 2018, in Orlando, Fla., and a home matchup with the Knights Sept. 21, 2019, at Heinz Field.

The other 2018 non-conference opponents are Albany, Penn State and at Notre Dame. Their other 2019 nonACC foes are Delaware, Ohio and at Penn State.

Former standouts Norm Nixon and Amy Alger Irvin were selected to represent the Dukes in 2017 Atlantic 10 Basketball Legends Class. They will be honored before the men’s conference semifinals March 11 and the women’s quarterfin­als March 3.

• San Diego State football coach Rocky Long agreed to a five-year contract extension through 2021. Long has guided the Aztecs to consecutiv­e Mountain West titles, six consecutiv­e bowl games.

• Weber State, in Ogden, Utah, gave football coach Jay Hill a two-year contract extension through the 2021 season.

Baseball

Former Pirates righthande­r Neftali Feliz signed a $5.35 million, one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. The deal includes $1.5 million in performanc­e bonuses. Feliz, 28, was 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA in 62 games for the Pirates.

• The Miami Marlins traded two of their top pitching prospects to the Cincinnati Reds for 14-game winner Dan Straily. The Reds received three minor leaguers — right-handers Luis Castillo and Austin Brice, and outfielder Isaiah White.

• The Baltimore Orioles agreed to a $37.5 million, three-year contract to keep major league home run champion Mark Trumbo, contingent on him passing a physical. Trumbo, 31, hit 47 homers last season.
