Urgent care center sees increase in patients
Facility has been open for 1 year
Since opening one year ago, the walk-in urgent care center in Pine operated by Genesis Medical Associates Inc. has seen a 20 percent increase in walk-in patients, and that number continues to rise.
“Through word of mouth, people are realizing that we have the walk-in services available, and they can get the same care as an office visit,” said Cindi Yurkovich, practice operations specialist. “Follow-ups are scheduled with the same provider, so patients are not going through a rotating door.”
The walk-in center is in the Allegheny Health Network Health + Wellness Pavilion — Wexford at 12311 Perry Highway. It is operated by Grob, Scheri, Woodburn and Griffin Family Medicine, which is part of Genesis Medical Associates.
The center sees 2,200 to 2,300 patients per month.
It aims to provide more convenience for patients who don’t want to wait for a scheduled doctor appointment but also don’t want to pay higher urgent care prices, Ms. Yurkovich said. The center also can be less expensive than an emergency room, plus it offers patients the opportunity to see the same doctors again.
In addition, the AHN Health + Wellness Pavilion offers other services, including prescriptions and radiology, at the site, making it a one-stop shop for medical services.
The walk-in center is extending its hours to be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and is adding a triage nurse to reduce waiting time, Ms. Yurkovich said. Six physician assistants also work at the center.
The doctors who run the urgent care center — Dan Grob, Tad Scheri, Mark Woodburn and Eric Griffin — also have a Genesis Medical Associates practice at 1140 Perry Highway in Ross.
Genesis Medical Associates Inc. has 12 locations in northern Allegheny County and Cranberry, making it one of the largest independent primary care physicians groups in the area.
