Gas service disrupted for Clairton customers
About 1,200 Columbia Gas customers in Clairton should have their gas service back sometime today.
The customers were without it Monday night as the company performed safety checks in response to a drop in pressure.
The area where service was lost was south of the Montour Trail. According to a statement from Columbia Gas, the drop in pressure in a natural gas distribution line was detected early Monday.
To ensure the lines were safe, company technicians went door to door, shutting off service for affected customers.
The technicians left explanatory information on the front doors of those residents who were not home. To request a technician to come to a home to restore service, call 1-888-460-4332.
