Wildlife Art Show
“The Beauty of Wildlife” art exhibit runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Black Forge Coffee House, 1206 Arlington Ave., Allentown. The $5 admission includes appetizers by Onion Maiden and Randita’s, with live music by Rachel B and David Strait.
The show is the kickoff for the Scrap the Trap Pittsburgh campaign. A group of animal lovers wants to stop the city program that loans free traps to taxpayers to trap groundhogs, raccoons and other wildlife.
State law prohibits releasing the animals elsewhere, so the animals are killed by the city’s Animal Control department.
From 5 to 6 p.m., there will be a children’s art project and an appearance by a “furry visitor” from the Verona wildlife rehabilitation center operated by Animal Rescue League/ Western PA Humane Society.

Save a Life
A free pet first aid class will be offered by Chartiers Custom Pet Cremation, but owner Deb Chebatoris needs to know if people would prefer a two-hour introductory course or a fourhour class that will certify participants.
The class will be at 1:30 p.m. April 29 at the Bridgeville Library. Call 412-220-7800 to sign up and to vote for a two- or four-hour course.
The shorter class would include how to help pets that are choking, heatstressed or poisoned. CPR and disaster preparedness will also be covered.
The four-hour class would also cover injury assessment, rescue breathing, fractures, bites and stings.
