An East McKeesport woman accused of overdosing her two sons was denied bail Thursday.

An attorney for Samantha Brown, 27, asked Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning to grant his client release to Justice Related Services.

In his motion, attorney Luke Wilson argued that his client is not a flight risk, would reside with her mother and would meet all conditions posed by the court.

But assistant district attorney Lisa Carey argued that Ms. Brown should not be released from custody and that she had already violated a no-contact order with the children that was issued weeks ago.

Ms. Brown is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children after her sons, ages 8 and 9, collapsed at Propel Braddock Hills Elementary School on March 1.

The 8-year-old was found unresponsive on the floor, which was covered in vomit. He also was foaming at the mouth.

The 9-year-old was described as dazed and also foaming at the mouth.

The children told school personnel and emergency medical workers that their mother made them take the pills, which are used to treat seizure disorders and anxiety.

During an interview with police, Ms. Brown said she “didn’t want the kids anyway.”
