Board OKs assistant to superinten­dent and other hires

The McKeesport Area school board has named Tia Wanzo as assistant to the superinten­dent and hired four other administra­tors.

Ms. Wanzo, associate principal of Founder’s Hall Middle School, will replace Harry Bauman, who will retire at the end of the school year. Her annual salary will be $103,539.

Also at its April 26 meeting, the board unanimousl­y approved hiring Matthew Gergely, city administra­tor for McKeesport, as assistant to the business manager/ grants and outside funding for the district.

He will replace James Humanic, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Mr. Gergely’s starting salary will be $85,000. He was awarded a fiveyear contract, from July 1 through June 30, 2022.

As she voted for Mr. Gergely, board vice president Mary Jane Keller, a retired McKeesport Area teacher, said, “I certainly have a great deal of pride and confidence in my fifth-grade student.”

Ashlee Boyle, assistant principal at Founder’s Hall, was named associate principal at Founder’s Hall at a salary of $78,698.

Matthew Mols, a guidance counselor at the high school, was named assistant principal at Founder’s Hall Middle School at a salary of $63,938.

Brie Adams, assistant principal of online learning/grants and outside funding in the district, was named assistant principal of cyber school/ McKeesport Area Technology Center director at a salary of $65,216.
