Trump is creating chaos in government
Less than 200 days into Donald Trump’s administration, our government is slipping into a dangerous area of chaos. From burning bridges with long-term and important European allies like Germany, which buffers the monstrous Vladimir Putin and his global assaults, to providing a budget that guts most of societal safety nets, worker protections and health care, it seems like every day brings another disaster.
Now the U.S. has withdrawn from the Paris climate accord.
Because of this chaos, no person with government experience wants a job with this administration, which leads to this rudderless ship. Mr. Trump asked for the resignations of U.S. attorneys and 93 of those positions still must be filled. More than a hundred State Department jobs are unfilled, leading to a vacuum in international diplomacy.
No current staffer can rein in this autocrat, hence the ridiculous tweets at all hours and the decision to have world leaders call his unprotected cell phone to discuss world issues. With the Russian capabilities in hacking, why not just make it a threeway call to save time? Mr. Trump embraces despotic regimes in Saudi Arabia — and provides weapons for their use against Yemeni children — and the Philippines, whose leader Rodrigo Duterte joked about raping women while rounding up drug dealers.
Is it that important to the GOP establishment to sit back and allow these unbalanced moves, just to hold on to the presidency? The 2018 midterm elections will be the most important in our history. A Democratic Congress would do the job that the current Ryan-led Republican Congress will not: Investigate these ties to Russian money flowing into this country and the hold that Putin has on swaying this unbalanced and childish Trump.
