Speaking in between running around the field at his annual youth football camp Sunday, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger weighed in on a few of the hot topics from the recently concluded OTAs and minicamp.

On how wide receiver Martavis Bryant is fitting back in with the team after being suspended for the entire 2016 season: “Good — learning some of the stuff we put in last year he didn’t know about, remembering things that we had in before. He looks like a stud, as usual, so we’re excited for him to be on the field this year and help us out.”

On if rebuilding trust with the team has been part of that process for Bryant: “Well, I think it’s just proving to us he can be out there all season. We need him all year, so I think that’ll be big for us.”

On his impressions of second-round draft pick JuJu Smith-Schuster after about a month of working with the rookie receiver: “Obviously, we’re all in Tshirts and helmets, so it’s a little early, but everything he’s shown has been really good. I like the potential. He’s got a great group of guys to learn from. When you have Antonio Brown in that room and on the field, you’re going to learn some things, so I’m excited about what he can potentially bring to us.”

Speaking of potential, on whether adding Smith-Schuster and getting Bryant back makes him think this can be thebest receiving corps he has had:“Well, we’ve got a ways to go for that. I know when you have Antonio Brown, you’ve got one of the best receivers you’ll ever play with, so anything you add to that is a good thing.”

And lastly, his thoughts on what it might take to beat the New England Patriots, given that some coaches and teammates alluded to that obstacle last week: “No offense to the champs, but I’m thinking about Cleveland. That’s our first game. You can’t think about last year, you can’t think about Week 12, 13, 14, 15, playoffs. You’ve got to think about Week 1, and Week 1 is at Cleveland. That’s a division rivalry. And even before that, we have to worry about ourselves in training camp, get ourselves ready to go. We need to be the best we can be, and that’ll translate into goodthings on the field.”

Oddly enough, no reference to that Week 1 preseason matchup at the New York Giants.
