Jason Botterill has company.

The former Penguins associate general manager Monday poached the team’s former director of amateur scouting, Randy Sexton, bringinghim north to Buffalo.

The move was widely expected — and reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette — but it became official Monday morning after the 2017 NHL Draft concluded.

Sexton will be an assistant general manager in Buffalo — along with Steve Greeley — and will be the GM of the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans.

“Randy and I developed a positive working relationship during our time in Pittsburgh, and I think his experience and insight will be advantageous for our front office,” Botterill, the Sabres general manager, said in a statement issued by his new employer.

Sexton joined the Penguins as assistant director of amateur scouting in 2010-11 and spent the past seven seasons with the scouting department. Before Pittsburgh, Sexton was with the Florida Panthers (2007-10) and Ottawa Senators (199095), where he was the club’s president, CEO and general manager.
