Let’s hope stronger law deters animal abusers

-

Kudos to Gov. Tom Wolf for supporting and signing legislation that will strengthen Pennsylvania’s laws against animal abuse and neglect, making aggravated cruelty to animals a felony offense. It’s about time Pennsylvania joined most of the rest of the country in this regard.

Let’s hope the new penalty will prove to be a deterrent to would-be animal abusers, saving scores of innocent and defenseless animals from the horrors so many others have experienced. ALLISON CAVEGLIA BARASH Franklin Park Democrats to wake up and see what’s happening to their party. And he blames the “mainstream media” in particular.

What proof can he give that the “mainstream media,” including The Washington Post, The New York Times and, I presume, the Post-Gazette, can’t be trusted because they only spout propaganda?

Who would Mr. Bower suggest Americans trust? Should we trust fake news sites like Breitbart WorldNetDaily, or Alex Jones’ InfoWars and others of that ilk? It has been proved that they are purveyors of fake news. They twist, distort and tell outright lies in their statements to the American people.

Although he is obviously concerned about our country, Mr. Bower needs to do some real research about truth. People can call the “mainstream media” all kinds of names, and they do sometimes make mistakes, like all of us. But they strive for the honest facts.

I can’t say the same about the others mentioned above.

The good thing about facts is that they are true, no matter what fake news outlets say. One and one equals two and will always equal two no matter what the above-mentioned sources claim.

We just have to do our own homework and set our prejudices aside to find the truth. CAROL MOESSINGER
