This isn’t their first goround with reality television. The Himes family was featured on HGTV’s “House Hunters” last September as they purchased a home in Nashville, Tenn.

• West Newton’s Andrew Takach forged himself a $10,000 prize.

By crafting a bowie knife, then adding a D guard and an elk horn handle, Mr. Takach worked his way into the final round of History’s “Forged in Fire” this week.

He adroitly fashioned a bowie knife, then added a D guard after advancing to the second round against three other bladesmiths. Part of the tests included judges hammering the blade against a nail, and there were cut tests for sharpness as well.

He had never made a sword before.

“I thought, ‘Wow, this is really cool.’ And I liked how it performed.”

The judges agreed, giving him the victory when shooting resumed.

• On “Face Off: Divide and Conquer,” time ran out on Suzanne Bostwick, a graduate of Tom Savini’s Special Makeup Effects Program in Monessen, whose demonic clockthemed makeup fell short. Another Savini grad, Philip Harrah, is still in the season 12 race.
