Another Pennsylvania state university president is departing.

Michael Fiorentino Jr., 68, announced he plans to retire from the presidency of Lock Haven University, effective March 16. He has been in office since 2011.

Mr. Fiorentino informed the campus community Wednesday morning in a message about the decision he and his wife have made.

“It is with many mixed emotions that Pam and I announce that we will be retiring,” he wrote. “It is time for us to shift our focus to spending more time with cherished friends and family and to enjoy the time for new adventures.”

Lock Haven is one of 14 universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. Wednesday’s announcement means another presidential transition among a spate of them at those schools.

• In June, Mansfield University president Fran Hendricks announced he will retire later this month, and Millersville University president John Anderson will do so in March.

• Clarion University president Karen Whitney announced her plan to retire effective at the end of June 2018.

• Slippery Rock University president Cheryl Norton retired at the end of June.

• Aaron Walton is serving as Cheyney University's interim president.

• Last month, Frank Brogan, chancellor of the state system, announced he plans to retire Sept. 1, after four years on the job.
