Florida’s record-setting QB Reaves discovered dead at home
Former Florida and NFL quarterback John Reaves, who finished his college career as the NCAA’s all-time leading passer and later struggled with drug and alcohol, has died. He was 67.

At Florida, Reaves threw for a school-record 342 yards and five touchdowns in his first game, breaking the mark of 1966 Heisman Trophy winner Steve Spurrier. He left school as the NCAA’s all-time passer, throwing for 7,581 yards and an SEC record 54 touchdowns.
Reaves dealt with dependency for most of his 11-year career in the NFL.

Ken Webster and Detric Bing-Dukes were suspended for the season opener against South Alabama after being arrested and charged with shoplifting.
LSU
Offensive lineman Maea Teuhema, a two-year starter, has been suspended indefinitely. Tigers coach Ed Orgeron, described Teuhema’s offense as “a violation of team rules.”
