Meanwhile, Big Rail Brewing Co. — it’s been brewing at the Harmony Inn — has announced the purchase of a 12-acre lot for its own taproom at 2158 Mercer Butler Pike that should open by 2019. Owner Bill Smith is planning “a cozy tap room, with a bar, fireplace and comfortable tables and benches” with a light menu that could be supplemented by food trucks or caterers. “When the weather’s nice, there will be large garage-style doors that we can open wide and let in a fresh breeze, as well as a beer garden among the trees.” Moreat bigrailbrewing.com.

• From 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, it’s “Growlers & Flowers,” a beers-andblooms fundraiser for the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden in Oakdale.
