OUR QUESTIONS, HIS ANSWERS

You were an offensive tackle last year, but will play guard

this year. Why? We have a bigger line this year with more players and we have a bigger left tackle. I project more as a guard in college, so it’s probably best for the team and me for the next level.

But you made all-conference on defense. Any chance

you’re better on defense? To be honest, a lot of college coaches think I’m better on defense, but some think offense. Right now, I’m more comfortable on the offensive side of the ball, but coach [Pat] Narduzzi said I’m a good defensive player, too, and when I get down there to Pitt, I might play either defensive tackle or guard. It probably will depend which side of the ball I pick up faster mentally.

Butler hasn’t had a winning season since 1997. What are

the chances this year? Every year I’ve been on the varsity, we say we can be .500. This year, we have probably have the biggest lines we’ve had the past 10 years. Everyone on the front line has bought in, and we want to win.

We’re hoping everyone buys in. I honestly think we can win four or five games. Why hasn’t Butler been able

to win? Hmmm. It’s hard to say. I’d say in my experience, this senior class was 22-4-1 from seventh grade through our ninthgrade year. We were beating everyone. We had 38 kids on our ninth-grade team. Then we got to 10th grade and so many quit. We had 20. Kids just don’t seem to have the interest to continue. That’s a big part of it. Are you the biggest punter you’ve ever seen? [Laugh] I would say so. At least in high school football. Where does Jake Kradel go after Friday night games? I’m so tired I usually just go home. With some bumps and bruises, I usually just sit down, watch our game on Hudl and see what plays I messed up. What’s a pet peeve of Jake

Kradel? When people don’t pay attention to little details. Like sometimes with players, they’re told the details of something. Then, they get to the line and don’t do it right.
