Beaver house was home for the holidays
Dominic and Kelly Mazzotta live in Atlanta but have extended families in Beaver. That’s the reason they bought the house at 344 4th St. in 2013.
“It has a great big porch, great details. We thought we would use it as our reverse vacation home,” he said.
The plan was to use its five bedrooms and two bathrooms for family holidays in Beaver County. But now that they aren’t coming home as much, they have decided to sell it for $209,000 (MLS No. 1295627) with Brian Fleming of Bovard Anderson (724-359-4011 or www.bovardanderson.com). Visitors find themselves on a sprawling front porch with stately columns. A pair of oak doors lead to the 10- by-14-foot entry, which has an original hardwood floors and coffered ceiling.
To the right is a 12- by-15-foot living room with a large decorative fireplace. Just beyond, through an arched doorway, is the 14- by-15-foot dining room, which has a painted white fireplace mantel, ceiling medallion and chandelier. Decorative ceiling beams and a chair rail finish the space.
The Mazzottas said the house needed lots of cosmetic work.
“It was a typical Pittsburgh house. It had a lot of wallpaper in the kitchen and bathrooms. We did the facelift, removing wallpaper, freshly painting every room and installing new carpet,” he said.
The 11- by- 13-foot updated kitchen has solid-wood cabinets in a dark stain with brushed nickel pulls and handles. The dark ceramic floor tile mimics the finish on the electric stove.
