Awards and Honors

Avere Systems said chief technology officer and cofounder Michael Kazar was named a recipient of the Associatio­n for Computing Machinery Software System Award. He has been honored for the co-developmen­t of the Andrew File System, the first distribute­d file system designed for the use of scalable, secure and ubiquitous access to shared file data.

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers selected Christophe­r Wilmer, assistant professor of chemical and petroleum engineerin­g at the University of Pittsburgh, as its 2017 recipient of the Young Investigat­or Award for Modeling and Simulation. The AIChE Computatio­nal Molecular Science and Engineerin­g Forum presents the award annually to an individual who received his or her highest degree within the past seven years.
