Faneca, Ward land Hall nomination­s

Guard Alan Faneca and wide receiver Hines Ward again are part of a list of former Steelers who are among the 108 players and coaches nominated from the modern era for the next Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

Faneca was a finalist the past two seasons, his first as an eligible candidate. Ward did not make the finals in his first year of eligibilit­y.

Other Steelers joining Faneca on the ballot are Joey Porter, Greg Lloyd, Gary Anderson and coaches Bill Cowher and Buddy Parker.

Nominees from

Western Pennsylvan­ia or area colleges include Bill Fralic (Penn Hills, Pitt), Steve Wisniewski (Penn State), Darryl Talley (West Virginia), Ty Law (Aliquippa) and coaches Chuck Knox (Sewickley) and Marty Schottenhe­imer (McDonald/Fort Cherry High School). Law was a finalist for the previous class.

The 108 nonimees will be pared to 25 in November and then 15 finalists in January. The final vote for election will take place Feb. 3.

Among the list of bigname first-year eligible nominess are linebacker­s Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher and wide receiver Randy Moss.
