Rodger scores 4 TDs to lead Westinghou­se

Jermain Rodger scored four touchdowns to lead Westinghou­se to a 28-13 win over visiting Hickory in a non-conference game Friday at Cupples Stadium.

Rodger, who rushed for 96 yards on 20 carries, scored on runs of 15 and 2 yards in the first half, as the Dragons (3-1) took a 14-7 lead going into the intermissi­on.

Rodger scored two more times in the second half on runs of 3 and 8 yards.

Hickory’s Hayden Gallagher completed 14 of 31 passes for 214 yards and accounted for both Hornets touchdowns. Gallagher connected with Darren Mitchel and Will Gruber on scoring passes of 15 and 30 yards. Gruber caught 10 passes for 141 yards.

Steubenvil­le, Ohio 55, University Prep 20: The Big Red scored 28 points in the first quarter and rolled to a win over the visiting Panthers (14) in a non-conference game. The Panthers were led by Sy Alli, who rushed for 119 yards on 7 carries and scored on runs of 78 and 26 yards. Steubenvil­le was led by Jacob Bernard, who rushed for 225 yards on 19 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 1, 29, 19, and 52 yards. The Big Red accumulate­d 549 yards in total offense, including 464 yards on 51 rushing attempts.

Brooke, W.Va. 34, Perry Traditiona­l Academy 20: The Commodores (1-3) lost for the third week in a row in a nonconfere­nce road game. The Commodores were led by Maleik Hemingway, who rushed for 117 yards on 15 carries and scored on runs 17 and 43 yards.
