Trevathan’s suspension reduced to one game for hit on WR Adams
The NFL reduced Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan’s suspension for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams from two games to one.
The league announced the change Tuesday.
Adams was taken off the field on a stretcher in the third quarter Thursday night after getting hit in the head on a tackle by Trevathan. The game was delayed for about five minutes while medical personnel tended to Adams. He tweeted Friday that he was at home and “feeling great.”
Trevathan was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty after Adams’ 8-yard catch but was not ejected. He is eligible to return after Chicago’s game Monday night against the Vikings.
More Bears
Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky thinks he can handle the pressure of his first NFL start Monday night against the Vikings.
“You only get nervous or feel pressure when you’re not prepared for the situation or where you don’t know what you’re doing,” he said.
Packers
Running back Ty Montgomery will prepare this week as if he will play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. His broken ribs might keep him out, though. On the first play of the Packers’ 35-14 victory Thursday night against the Bears, Montgomery gained 5 yards before being tackled by linebacker Danny Trevathan. “His knee was kind of lodged into my ribs,” Montgomery said.
Redskins
Cornerback Josh Norman is week-to-week after fracturing a rib in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Norman said after the 29-20 loss that he fell awkwardly on the heel of someone’s shoe and that it hurt to breathe.
Saints
New Orleans placed right tackle Zach Strief on injured reserve, possibly ending his season. Strief left a 20-0 victory Sunday against Miami in London with a knee injury.
