The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has been named the Pennsylvan­ia NewsMedia Associatio­n’s Newspaper of the Year for 2017 among Division 1 multiday publicatio­ns, the organizati­on announced this week.

The York Daily Record came in second in the category. Division 1 includes the largest newspapers in the state, those with more than 75,000 circulatio­n.

In addition, the Post-Gazette took first-place honors in the categories of News Excellence, Editorial & Commentary Excellence, Best Use of Photograph­y and Best Use of Video. The Post-Gazette also took second place for Advertisin­g Excellence and Community Service.

An awards brunch will be held Nov. 3 at the Loews Philadelph­ia Hotel, in conjunctio­n with the PNA’s 93rd annual convention. closed. State liquor stores will be open. Pennsylvan­ia Department of Transporta­tion driver’s license and photo ID centers are also closed Saturday.
