Jury to return Tuesday in Leon Ford lawsuit
A federal jury deliberating over the civil rights claims of Leon Ford, who was shot and paralyzed by Pittsburgh police five years ago, will return Tuesday to try to reach a decision.
The jury of 10, drawn from a 13-county region, told U.S. Magistrate Judge Maureen Kelly on Friday morning that it was deadlocked. She told the jurors to try some more. They did but couldn’t reach a decision, and she told them to come back next week to keep trying.
The case began two weeks ago and the jury began deliberating Tuesday afternoon.
The case involves Mr. Ford’s civil claims against two Pittsburgh police detectives, David Derbish and Andrew Miller.
