Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the Beatles and Zeppelin to Radiohead, Flaming Lips and Tame Impala, certainly has the epic sound and guitar fury to get the neighbors’ attention.

“Really, we end up playing whatever sounds good to us or gives us feels,” he says. “If I present a song to the band and shortly after I get goosebumps when we’re jamming on it, then it’s probably a winner. We try not to get locked into a genre and I like bands and artists that transcend and hop across genre like Zeppelin, the Beatles, Radiohead, Beck, etc. If we like a song or a riff, we figure someone else will.”

What prompted the band to go bigger and heavier?

“I think we came to this sound and these songs as a reflection of recurring anxieties related to isolation, and living in the modern American political and social environmen­t, and coping with and distractin­g yourself from those anxieties.”

When A.T.S. plays its final Bloomfield Bridge Tavern show Saturday, you might hear three new topical tracks from the Pittsburgh post-punk legends: “The Spicer,” “25th Amendment” and “Kelly Ann.” They also will be releasing them on bandcamp.

Also on the bill are the Rowdy Bovines, Raised by Wolves, Igor + the Melees and Jen Saffron. It begins at 9 p.m. $5. The BBT, a longtime Pittsburgh institutio­n at 4412 Liberty Ave., is closing for good Oct. 21.
