Six in­jured in traf­fic ac­ci­dent in Shady­side

Six peo­ple were in­jured in a two-ve­hi­cle crash Thurs­day on Fifth Av­enue in Shady­side.

The crash, re­ported at 10:39 a.m., oc­curred at Fifth and Shady Av­enue, ac­cord­ing to Al­legheny County emer­gency of­fi­cials.

One ve­hi­cle landed on its side and two pas­sen­gers in the front seat had to be freed by fire­fight­ers, Pitts­burgh pub­lic safety spokes­woman Sonya Toler said. A third pas­sen­ger in the back seat was able to get out on his own.

All three pas­sen­gers in the other ve­hi­cle also got out of the car on their own.

The six peo­ple were be­ing treated at UPMC Pres­by­te­rian. Their ex­tent of in­juries was not im­me­di­ately known.

South­bound lanes of Fifth Av­enue were closed from Shady to Beech­wood Boule­vard as well as one out­bound lane while emer­gency crews cleared the scene.
