Cardinals lose Palmer to injury
Arizona QB’s left arm broken vs. Rams
By The Associated Press
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer broke his left arm in a 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at Twickenham Stadium in England, leaving Drew Stanton to take over after the team’s off week.
Palmer will require surgery on the arm and coach Bruce Arians said he expects the quarterback to miss eight weeks.
“That’s a real gut punch to lose your best offensive player, your quarterback,” receiver Larry Fitzgerald said.
“There’s no really positive way to sum it up, honestly. You say you have to go forward and you have to do things, but we all know that’s a tough pill to swallow for us.”
Browns
All Pro left tackle Joe Thomas sustained a serious injury to his left triceps and could miss the remainder of the season. The 10time Pro Bowler had played 10,363 consecutive snaps before he was forced to leave in the third quarter of a 12-9 overtime loss to Tennessee. “It’s kind of unbelievable. I thought he was a superhuman, where nothing could happen to him. There were about 30 seconds out there where I teared up,” teammate and left guard Joel Bitonio said.
Cowboys
Ezekiel Elliott made the most of his latest legal reprieve that put his sixgame suspension on hold and responded by gaining 219 yards with three touchdowns as Dallas beat winless San Francisco. “I put that aside when I get with these guys,” Elliott said. “These guys do a good job of giving me something else to think about.”
Dolphins
Matt Moore replaced injured Jay Cutler and threw two touchdown passes in the final 12 minutes to lead Miami to a 31-28 comeback victory against the Jets. Cutler left the game with a chest injury and is believed to have a cracked rib.
49ers
C. J. Beathard was sacked five times and knocked down several more in a 40-10 loss to the Cowboys. “They brought a lot of pressure. I guess that was one of their game plan things. When you’re a rookie, obviously, you’re new to a system. Puts you on your heels a little bit.”
