Rock Steelers Style

-

#Super: The Steelers scored big on the runway during the annual Rock Steelers Style event at Stage AE Friday night. The party had all the glitz, glamour and greatness of a Vegas production, including performances by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, University of Pittsburgh Dance Team, Iron City Aerial (to “Renegade” by STYX) and the very funny Bill Crawford of the WDVE-FM morning show. Showing off their musical talent in a surprise performance were Steelers Arthur Moats and Marcus Tucker in an impressive keyboard duet. KDKA-TV’s Bob Pompeani emceed the fun.

#Style: The evening to benefit the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion program and the Cancer Caring Center was billed as Football, Family & Fun. It combined the vision of cochair Greta Rooney with the fashion of co-chair Kiya Tomlin. Steelers Art Rooney II mingled with with wife Greta during the reception. Ms. Tomlin arrived in a 2018 Ford Expedition (not yet in showrooms) wearing a dress she designed. “Don’t look too close I just finished this 5 minutes ago,” she joked. Coach Mike Tomlin was unable to attend, but host committee co-chairs Morgan and Kathy O’Brien and Lou and Millie Cestello were there to applaud her fashions and the players along with nearly 900 guests.

#Swagger: Co-captainsof the catwalk were Marcus Gilbert and Stephon Tuitt, but it was Jerome Bettis and Santonio Holmes who were the Swag Award judges. Winning the junior Swag Award was Antonio Brown Jr., while Steeler linebacker Anthony Chickillo took home this year’s Swag Award for his runway personality. Cheering the players and their families were Demeatria Boccella, Dr. Stanley Marks with Nikol, Sy Holzer, Danny Smith, Pat Rooney Gerrero and her niece, Caitlin Rooney Miller, Terrance Orr with Marianna Tcherkassky, Kristene and Mike Fitzgerald, Rebecca Whitlinger, Celina Pompeani with her mother Lisa and grandmother Beatrice DeRose.
