Tigers upset No. 1 seed in Class 4A
North Allegheny stuns Pine-Richland
North Allegheny could not beat Pine-Richland in the regular season. They did it when it counted, though, and knocked the top-seeded Rams out of the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs.
Junior Alex Adams netted both goals for the Tigers (12-6-1) in their 2-0 victory against the Rams (16-2-1) in the quarterfinal matchup at Hampton.
North Allegheny lost and tied to Pine-Richland in their two regular-season matches this season.

Upper St. Clair 1, Peters
Township 0: Jane Madson’s score was all the Panthers (11-5-2) needed to knock off the Indians (15-4) at Chartiers Valley in the quarterfinals.
Norwin 3, Kiski Area 1: Duquesne recruit Alyssa Victor, who has missed most of the season recovering from a hip injury, dished out three assists to help the Knights (16-1-1) beat the Cavaliers (11-7) at Penn-Trafford and advance to the semifinals.
Penn-Trafford 3, Fox Chapel 1: The Warriors (15-3-1) fell to the Foxes (13-6-1) in the final game of the regular season, but they got their revenge in the quarterfinals at Norwin.
Class 3A
Mars 4, Franklin Regional 1: Freshman Caroline Wroblewski scored two goals and the Planets (15-1) cruised to a quarterfinal victory against Franklin Regional (11-6-1) at Hampton. It was only the third game this season that a Mars opponent managed to score. Montour 4, South Fayette 0: The Section 4 rivals split the season series, but Montour (12-7) won the third contest in the quarterfinals at Hopewell. The Spartans got

Dillinger, Julia Mooney, Emily Faith and Mia Scrabis. South Park 5, Thomas Jefferson 0: The Eagles (16-2-1) continued their dominance of the Jaguars in the quarterfinals at Peters Township. Molly Saylor earned her 15th shutout of the season and her third against the Jaguars (16-4), who have been outscored, 18-0, in three games against South Park. Moon 5, Ambridge 0: Miami of Ohio recruit Delaney Snyder notched two goals and Moon (20-0) shut out
Ambridge (13-5-2) in the quarterfinals at Hopewell.
Class 2A
Waynesburg 5, Avonworth 0: Waynesburg raced to a 4-0 halftime lead and never looked back in its quarterfinal match against Avonworth (13-6) at Peters Township. Freshman Rhea Kijowski found the net twice and now has 31 goals this season. Madison Clayton, the WPIAL’s leading scorer in the regular season, scored her 54th of the season. The Raiders (171) have won 16 in a row and outscored their opponents, 130-12, this season.
Yough 3, Burrell 2: The Cougars stumbled in the semifinals a year ago, but this year they won a thriller to advance to the semifinals. Sophomore Justina Appolonia scored her second goal of the game as time was winding down in overtime to get Yough (14-2) past Burrell (12-4-1) at Norwin.
Freedom 4, Brownsville 1: In a quarterfinal matchup at Moon, Michaela Watkins lifted her season goal total to 40 after finding the net twice for Freedom (18-0) against Brownsville (14-5-1).
Freeport 3, Quaker Valley 1: Jenna Manke made four saves and the Yellow Jackets (16-2-1) got goals from Sidney Shemanski, Kaylee Comperatore and Piper Claypool to pick up a quarterfinal win at Mars.
Class 1A
Seton-LaSalle 2, South Side Beaver 1: Mofoluke Obiri scored the winning goal with six minutes remaining in overtime to lead the Rebels (16-2) past the Rams (15-5) in a quarterfinal at Chartiers Valley. Sophomore Marissa Shuckman provided the other goal for Seton-LaSalle. Kaitlyn Knox scored the goal for South Side Beaver.
Shady Side Academy 4, Sewickley Academy 0: A scoreless game at the half turned into a rout as the Indians (12-3) pulled away from Sewickley Academy (12-5-2) in the quarterfinals at Mars. Sophomore Callie Davis led the charge with two goals.
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 3, Our Lady Sacred Heart 0: A hat trick from Tori Michalski was all the scoring the Trojanettes (15-4) needed to advance past the Chargers (11-6-3) at Moon.
Greensburg Central Catholic 1, Vincentian 0: Freshman Sam Felder scored in the first half and the Centurions (133) held on the rest of the way to beat the Royals (12-5) at Penn-Trafford in a quarterfinal matchup.
