#EnPointe: In honor of the 100th birthdays of Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre celebrated in style with an homage to “West Side Story,” their smash-hit collaborat­ion. “We have an embarrassm­ent of riches in Pittsburgh and the ballet stands out as a true gem,” said event cochair Christophe­r Howard, with wife and co-chair Barbara Noble Howard. This gala is a true gem of Pittsburgh as well, elevating the cultural and fashion #SEEN of Pittsburgh each and every year. Stand-outs that sashayed by included Peggy McKnight in Oscar de la Renta, Dr. Melonie Nance, Vivian Benter in Alaia, Roseanne Wholey in Herve Leger, Dawn Fleischner in Alberta Ferretti, Demeatria Boccella, Melanie Crockard in Johnathan Kayne, and Lois Mufuka Martin. Not to be outdone, Philip Ferland, Quincy Swatson, and Rennick Remley also shined in dapper duds. But what makes this one of the standout parties of the year? “I think people are drawn to the ballet. The new generation is on the scene and it’s exciting. The culture is ready to see how dance, how movement, is relevant to their lives,” said PBT Executive Director Harris Ferris. It seems as though Pittsburgh agrees, considerin­g the sold out event raised more than $630,000.
