Time Honored gala

-

The Place: LUXE Creative in Point Breeze, Saturday night.

The Purpose: To recognize Kate Dewey (with her husband Tony Florence), with the creation of the Kate Dewey Lifetime Achievement in Public Service Award at the Time Honored party presented by the Jefferson Awards Foundation. Ms. Dewey is retiring president of the Forbes Funds and was the founding director of Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania. “It feels rather strange,” she said about getting an award in her name. “My career has been dedicated to community service, but what will be the greatest honor is to see this award passed on to others,” she added. Regional director of the Jefferson Awards Foundation, Jodi Klebick presented the award.

The Party: The theme for the evening was Steam Punk and guests were very creative putting together their SyFy/Jules Verneish looks. They were sporting goggles, time pieces, leather, metal and a lot of imagination. Magician Colin Stover, tarot card reader Mistress Terry and dancing to DJ Zombo made for a lively evening. “We celebrate public service to inspire others to serve,” said Amanda Fisher, committee member.

The People: Among the nearly 120 guests were cochairs Kristine Sorensen of KDKA-TV and Dr. E.J. Donnelly III, Evelyn Castillo, Beth Tiffany, Todd Owens and Jamie Rutherford, John and Tracy Mahood of Image Box, Andi and Steven Irwin, Brigitte Bouchat, Patti Michard, Joan Bondira, Clint Hoover, Megan Livingston, David Esch and Eleni Houghton, Maria Anderson, Jerry DeNucci, Kathy Ferri, Carol Luckner and Troy Cady and Christie Knott with Jim Fischerkeller.
