the most because the outcome will directly impact The Fumbler’s dog. How, you say? Earlier this season, The Fumbler got a new puppy and named him Gus. He then said if Quaker Valley would win a WPIAL title, Gus would become Guss in honor of Quakers’ star Ricky Guss. No change will be needed. Winner: Aliquippa.

Class 2A

Steel Valley (10-0) vs. Riverside (9-2), 7:30 Friday at North Hills — For being an hour apart, these programs sure do know each other well. This is their fourth meeting in two seasons. Riverside opened and closed the 2016 season with losses to Steel Valley. If Riverside loses here, it will be 2016 all over again. The previous time Steel Valley lost a game, the PIAA had four classes. Since then, the Ironmen have won 25 games in a row. Make it 26. Winner: Steel Valley.

Washington (11-0) vs. Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (10-2), 7:30 Friday at Moon — Wash High? Why, are they dirty? The Fumbler doesn’t think so, but he does have an important question for you: What did the first sock say to the second sock in the dryer? See you next time around. Don’t be surprised if these teams are in this same spot next season. They have loads of talented underclassmen. Wash High is just a little better this season. Winner: Washington.

Class 1A

California (12-0) vs. Imani Christian (10-2), 7:30 Friday at Peters Township — Selfishly, part of The Fumbler wants to see California reach the final. Watching California’s manchild running back Jelani Stafford play on the big stage would be pretty cool. Then again, another part of The Fumbler would like to see Imani play Jeannette in the final, simply because one of Jeannette’s top players is Imani Sanders. That would make it Imani vs. Imani. Winner: California.

Clairton (9-2) vs. Jeannette (11-1), 7:30 Friday at Elizabeth Forward — If you heard a thump three Fridays ago, it probably had something to do with these two teams. Jeannette appeared to be on its way to an unbeaten regular season and then — Boom! — the Jayhawks were thumped by Clairton, 40-6. It has become a common theme in this matchup. Jeannette is 43-7 in its past 50 games. Its record against Clairton in that time? 0-6. Another final for the Bears. Winner: Clairton.
