Cavaliers’ Rose out with injury

-

Starting point guard Derrick Rose of the Cleveland Cavaliers will miss at least the next two weeks with a nagging left ankle injury.

Rose injured the ankle Oct. 20 at Milwaukee and has missed Cleveland’s past four games. He underwent medical tests, and it was recommended that he rest.

The oft-injured Rose, 29, is averaging 14.3 points in seven games this season.

The former league MVP signed with the Cavaliers as a free agent this summer after spending last season with the New York Knicks.

Iman Shumpert started at point guard on Cleveland’s recent road trip as the Cavaliers went 3-1, but even LeBron James has had to fill in at times.

Grizzlies

Guard Mike Conley is out indefinitely with a sore left heel and Achilles tendon, leaving Mario Chalmers to start in his place for now. The team plans to have another update on his status in approximately two weeks. The Grizzlies have no timetable for Conley’s return. He has started 12 of the Grizzlies’ first 14 games and is averaging 17.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists in his 11th NBA season. He has been playing an average of 31.1 minutes each game.

Nets

Guard D’Angelo Russell had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday. No timetable for his return was provided. Russell has played in 12 games with team-leading averages of 20.9 points and 5.7 assists.
